Many of us have trouble setting that thermostat, or getting it to do what we want. This you tube video does a pretty good job of explaining what the various buttons and switches do on your basic thermostat.
If you need help programming your thermostat, it is always a good idea to read the manual or even to ask the company that installed your air!
